In April 2020, Planate Management Group provided construction management services to the prime contractor in support of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) contract to construct the Alternate Care Facility (ACF) at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (BNBMC) in Paramus, New Jersey. The USACE contract called for the construction of a 100-bed medical facility to be built in 14 days with no prior planning or design.
Construction began on April 15, 2020 and was completed on April 29, 2020. The challenge of assessing, designing, and managing the ACF’s construction with such a tight turnaround was enormous. Planate provided construction management services to bring this contingency contract to completion on time.
The ACF, which is located on the medical center campus, has been converted for use to distribute the COViD-19 vaccine. It began serving as an “initial distribution point” for the Moderna vaccine on December 28, 2020, providing vaccinations to Category 1A citizens.
Construction of the BNBMC ACF was made possible through federal resources from the CARES Act rescue and relief package.
