ALEXANDRIA, VA, June 2026 — Planate Management Group, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), has been awarded a firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide fire protection engineering and life safety code review services for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The 12-month contract covers independent, third-party design reviews for multiple healthcare construction and renovation projects across the VA healthcare system.
What Services Will Planate Provide?
Planate will serve as an independent fire protection compliance reviewer, evaluating design submissions at mid-design and final design stages. Services include:
- Verifying compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, including NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code), and VA fire protection design standards
- Delivering formal compliance reports with findings and recommendations
- Providing technical guidance and risk mitigation support to project design teams
- Issuing final certification of compliance with life safety standards
Reviews cover fire detection and alarm systems, sprinkler and clean agent suppression systems, means of egress and evacuation design, smoke control, and compartmentation.
