Overview

Planate Management Group has been awarded a Construction Management Services contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in support of the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrade at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Jesse Brown is one of the most significant VA medical facilities in the Midwest, serving tens of thousands of veterans across the Chicago metropolitan area. This award supports a critical initiative within the Veterans Health Administration’s broader effort to modernize healthcare delivery systems through advanced digital infrastructure. The EHRM program is designed to transition legacy systems to a modern, integrated electronic health record platform—enhancing care coordination, data accessibility, and patient outcomes across the VA network.

Supporting Mission-Critical Healthcare Infrastructure

Under this contract, Planate will deliver comprehensive construction management and administrative services to support complex upgrades within an active healthcare environment. The scope of work includes:

● Project oversight and coordination across multiple facilities within the medical center

● Scheduling and cost control to ensure timely and efficient delivery

● Quality assurance and compliance with healthcare construction standards, safety, and infection control requirements

● Integration support for technology-enabled infrastructure systems, including telecommunications rooms and electrical systems

Enabling the Future of Veteran Healthcare

The infrastructure improvements at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center are part of a broader national effort to modernize the VA’s health IT systems. These upgrades are essential to enabling seamless digital records, improving clinical workflows, and enhancing the overall quality of care delivered to veterans. The project is expected to span a base period with two option years—up to 1,095 calendar days—ensuring continuity of hospital operations while construction activities are carefully phased and executed.

Delivering Excellence in Complex Environments

Healthcare infrastructure projects of this scale require precise coordination, stringent safety protocols, and the ability to operate within fully functioning medical facilities. Planate’s role will be critical in ensuring that construction activities are executed without disruption to patient care, while maintaining compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements specific to active clinical environments.

This award reflects Planate Management Group’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality, mission-focused solutions that strengthen federal healthcare infrastructure. By supporting the modernization of critical systems like electronic health records, Planate contributes directly to improved service delivery for veterans and the long-term resilience of healthcare facilities across the VA network.
