At Planate Management Group, we take pride in delivering innovative and reliable solutions in fire protection and mechanical design. Our recent collaboration for the dining facility at a major U.S. military installation in Ferizaj, Kosovo, is a testament to our technical expertise and ability to execute complex projects with precision. Planate was engaged to design a replacement hood, duct, and fire suppression system for the dining facility (DFAC). This project required a comprehensive approach, integrating fire protection engineering with advanced mechanical design. Given the critical nature of the facility, ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards was paramount.
Expert Site Assessment
To develop a tailored and effective solution, Planate Fire Protection Engineer Joseph Decker, P.E. conducted an on-site assessment, meticulously documenting key facility details through measurements and photographs. This hands-on evaluation provided invaluable insights into the existing conditions, allowing the team to identify challenges and determine optimal design solutions. Following this assessment, Planate delivered a detailed report of findings, which served as the foundation for the project’s basis of design.
Collaborative, Multi-Disciplinary Execution
Planate’s success in this project was driven by the seamless coordination of our teams across multiple locations. Our professionals from North America and Southeast Asia brought their specialized expertise to the design process, ensuring a well-rounded and technically sound approach. Additionally, we collaborated with CaptiveAire Commercial Ventilation Technologies to ensure precise specifications for the new systems and associated equipment.
Given the existing conditions at the facility, the project demanded extensive mechanical design work to meet scope requirements. Our team developed comprehensive mechanical and fire protection plans, tailored to the facility’s operational needs and safety requirements.
On-Time Delivery & Client Satisfaction
Maintaining clear and consistent communication with KBR was a priority throughout the project, ensuring alignment with expectations at every stage. Our team successfully delivered the final 100% design ahead of schedule, earning full client satisfaction. As a result of this success, the client has since approached Planate for a proposal to provide a Qualified Fire Protection Engineer to oversee construction and implementation of the design.
