Overview
Planate Management Group has been awarded full Architect/Engineer (A/E) services in support of major infrastructure upgrades at the Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks (VHSO) in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The project scope encompasses site investigations, design development, construction documentation, cost estimating, and construction period support for the replacement of existing boiler systems and associated mechanical upgrades.
Facility Background
The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks has served Veterans since 1934, providing a broad range of medical and support services across 22 counties in northwest Arkansas, southwest Missouri, and eastern Oklahoma. The main medical center in Fayetteville is supported by seven community-based outpatient clinics throughout the region. As one of the leading VA healthcare systems in the South Central VA Health Care Network, VHSO provides primary care, mental health services, specialty care, surgery, pharmacy, women’s health, and social work services to thousands of Veterans and their families.
Planate’s Scope of Services
Planate will deliver comprehensive A/E services spanning all phases of the project lifecycle. The scope begins with site investigations to assess existing boiler infrastructure and identify deficiencies, followed by full design development including mechanical systems engineering, construction documentation, and technical specifications. Planate will also provide accurate cost estimating to support project budgeting, and will remain engaged throughout construction to provide oversight, respond to contractor requests for information, and support final commissioning.
The work includes the replacement of aging boiler systems, which are critical to providing reliable heating and process steam throughout the medical center, as well as associated mechanical upgrades to ensure system integration and code compliance.
Supporting Veterans Through Infrastructure
Boiler systems are foundational to hospital operations—powering heating, sterilization, and other essential services that affect the reliability and quality of patient care. Replacing aging infrastructure with modern, energy-efficient systems not only enhances operational reliability but also reduces maintenance costs and improves the overall safety environment for patients, clinicians, and staff.
Planate is honored to support projects that advance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs by ensuring Veterans receive care in facilities that are safe, modern, and built to endure.
