Sampson Oldale, Planate’s director of supply chain logistics, and Lauren Whetstone, facility and space planner, recently achieved the successful execution of a 3D laser scanning project within a demanding ten-day timeframe. The project, which took place in March, provided 3D photogrammetry scanning at two Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) campuses — Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School in Hayward, Wis., and Fond du Lac Ojibwe School in Cloquet, Minn. The following photos show Lauren Whetstone (top) and Jim Taggart (below) positioning a 3D scanner above ceiling tiles to collect point cloud data that will show facility systems and components that are not visible at floor level. This data can be used to create discipline specific technical drawings.
